South Coast Part 2
If you’ve got children peddl.in with you, please be aware that the first 1.5km of this ride runs beside the relatively busy Squires Way. The bike path is positioned about four metres away from the road and is separated by a running lane and grass.
Not long after you cross a bridge over Fairy Creek you’ll come across a path on your left. This track passes through Stuart Park where if you’re lucky you might get a front row seat to watch the skydivers from Skydive Australia landing. There’s also a huge playground and flying fox at the north end of the park which could entertain the kids for hours!
At the end of Stuart Park you’ll need to cross through the carpark and then take a right to head along the waterfront. Be prepared to take it slow around Wollongong North Beach as there’s lots of activity going on! If you’re getting peckish, there are a bunch of cafes in front of Wollongong North Beach and Brighton Beach.
A bit further down the path you’ll ride past Continental Pool which overlooks the ocean - perhaps a quick dip if it’s warm!
There’s a footpath that runs all the way along the looped Endeavour Drive but you will have to cross a few small roads if you want to venture up the hill to the Wollongong Head Lighthouse. After you’ve taken in the view, we highly recommend popping into Yachties Cafe for a ridiculously fresh donut and a coffee!
If you want a challenge, why not join this track with our Thirroul to Fairy Meadow ride!
